There are more factors than you may think when it comes to credit reference agencies calculating your credit score. Making sure you are aware of these can help you get accepted for car finance. Here is quick list of all the information given in a credit search:

  1. Profile information – This contains basic identity information.
  2. Electoral role – Lenders check this as a precaution against fraud
  3. Aliases – Other names you are known by or have used.
  4. Financial association – Refers to anyone you are financially connected to eg. joint accounts, etc.
  5. Public records – Records such as court judgments for non-payment of debts, any bankruptcies or individual voluntary arrangements (IVAs).
  6. Account information – Covers every account that gives you something of value – money, goods or services
  7. Repossession information – If you have given up your home or had it repossessed
  8. Previous searches – Shows the organisations that have seen your credit report within the past 12 months
  9. Linked addresses – All the addresses you have applied for credit from
  10. CIFAS – Data from CIFAS, the UK’s Fraud Prevention Service
  11. GAIN (Gone Away Information Network) – If you owe money and have moved without providing the lender with a forwarding address
